Self-funded Residencies. (For application information please click here) Over a hundred artists from all over the world come to SSW every year to undertake Self-funded Residencies. Artists are asked to apply in writing for self-funded opportunties. Rates for graduates up to one year out of college are extremely reasonable. We encourage artists to contact us at an early stage to discuss ideas prior to applying.
Research and Production ResidenciesSSW runs an innovative programme of funded Research and Production Residencies, and Internships, which run over the summer months. These are open-ended and provide visual artists from the UK and further afield with time, space and support to explore new ideas or experiment with new techniques and processes. Please contact us for details of how to apply to this year's Summer Programme. Deadline April 30th.
Since 2004 we have worked with a range of partner venues to support artists from the Summer Residency Programme to secure exhibitions at various venues across Scotland. Artists in School and Community contextsSSW is developing and strengthening links with the local communtiy and schools, and runs a programme of residencies and placements in these contexts for visual artists. These provide artists with opportunities to develop new work with groups while also focussing on their own practice while at SSW. Our current School and Community project is the GANGHUT Lumsden Gala Festival. Please see the news section for further information.
