CALADAN GALLERY presents a juried exhibition entitled “Landscapes of the Mind”, featuring 30 national and international artists. This is an extremely eclectic exhibition, with media ranging from traditional to installation, digital, and work with light. The artists have explored their inner vistas and the exhibition is a map to the psycho-spiritual world of the unconscious, both on the personal and mass group levels. It ranges from that which is more enigmatic and secretive, to the exploration of mass culture and the ironies thereof. Also at the Gallery Site is the work of the young Visionary Krisztina Lazar. Krisztina’s work is a blend of mysticism and the reverence of nature, full of hope and optimism and above all, love and respect for life. Her work is accompanied by her very thoughtful and thought provoking text, which provides an allegory for her vision. Also showing is Brian Higgins’ “A Calendar of Seasons”, in which he studies the light and essence of each month of the year. Brian’s pastels are vigorous, yet serene. He captures the senses of his landscapes, allowing the viewer to live in the space totally. One can smell the crisp air of a Winter’s day, hear the wild bird song, and experience the beauty of his world. Exhibition dates: January 3 – January 31, 2005. For more information please call (978) 741-7979.
Caladan Gallery is pleased to announce the addition of several new members. We welcome Albert Belleveau, whose sculptures are done with earth-found materials. These pieces are reminiscent of nature worship of indigenous, and pre-Christian Celtic tribes. He calls upon the power of the stone, reeds, even metal to form the energy of the figure, which seems to come to life from the incantation of creation. Also represented is Jo Durst, a painter of flower forms, who utilizes light to give them substance and energy. One cannot separate the forms from the light that nurtures them. They breath life into the viewer, as the artist has breathed life into the images. Robyn Sean Peterson comes to us with dynamic collages of spiritual transformation and symbolism. These very sophisticated images are born with lyrical and coded messages, a symphony of icon and beauty. Her images are a direct mirror of the possibilities of the human soul, breathtaking in their complexity. Robert Simon is also now a gallery member, his subconcious renderings a gift. A self-taught artist, there is a direct line to his inner life, being a medium for the Jungian images he imparts in his whimsical and compelling works.
Upcoming exhibitions at Caladan Gallery include “Enigma and Magic”, an exploration of the Unknown; “Open Destiny: New Visual Directions 2005”, a survey of works by artists in a new year; “Digital Universe”, a stomping ground for innovative digital artists, and “Visionary Art Fest”, a cornucopia of Visionary ideas and directions.
