Press Release- Isa Zapata Visual Artist

This young Colombian woman, in addition to her beauty and sympathy, shines even brighter when we talk about her talent. Isa changed children’s games for painting classes, which she started when she was only 8 years old; she counted with all the support from her mother, the artist from Cali, Sonia Vargas Martínez.

 In the following years, she was surrounded by prominent artist such as Mario Godillo, Matilde Zúluaga y Tejadita but nevertheless Isa continued her education by studying Business Administration with a minor in Merchandising at Universidad Libre of Cali, where she graduated with honors.

Like if her fate were inevitable, the young artist exchanged offices and business attire for a studio in Miami and jeans stained with paints.

Her style is a mixture that revives the senses of the ones that see her work full of color, details, perfectionism, magic and innocence.  Isa shows a different happy way to see life.

Between her jokes and smiles as charming as her work, Isa talks to us about her art: “My biggest satisfaction is to awaken sensations and sentiments to the admirers of my work”.

Isa has participated in collective and private exhibitions in Miami and lately in Spain, country where her work has had a great reception. The artist is co-creator and illustrator of a project named “Jungle Party” which we will see very soon in children and franchised shops, thanks to the firm Ur Music.

Isa is also co-creator and illustrator of “Zaber”, an children’s project that she created together with the famous Spanish singer María Bestar. It will be entering the European market leaded by a very prestigious publishing company.  “My interest in theses type of projects is to make them educational, always connecting English with Spanish, in order to provide children with the fun tools to learn new things”.

Isa cooperates very actively with non profit organizations such as the “Foundation of Children with Cancer of Venezuela”, “Dolphins Aid”, the “Foundation Unidos por el Arte” of the Colombian-American chamber of Commerce.

Her murals have awakened the creativity of children where her marvelous hands and her mind filled up with fantastic worlds have touched their walls.

The most recent project  she’s been involved with is the recently inaugurated Children’s Museum of Miami. A building that she feels as if it was built for her and her passion providing her with a kind of painting headquarter, where she can developed her children oriented work, creating fantastic characters such as giraffes with sneakers, elephants floating with balloons among other designs that you can be found at zoos and theme  parks throughout the country.

She has even been selected as one of the artist of the Childnet Foundation of Broward County for the creation of a book for the “D’cota” Desing Center of the Americas.

Her work will be sold at auction in an event in April 2004. The raised proceeds will be donated to the foundation.

Although her passion is watercolor and infant themes, Isa has been continuing exploring the acrylics in which she combine them with oil, pastel and plastic paints, providing her work with a different look that can be admired by adults as well as children to decorate spaces and enjoy the freshness, creativity, innocence, contrast, magic, etc. all under one name, Isa Zapata.
